I have a love affair with grasscloth wallpaper. Like a true, deep, abiding love. Two years ago, I made my dreams of having grasscloth wallpaper in my own home, a reality, when I backed my office bookcase with a gorgeous aqua grasscloth wallpaper. It was, and still is, glorious. That little addition to my office only fueled my fire for grasscloth, and since then, I have been consumed with the idea of wrapping all 4 walls of my master bedroom in the perfect texture and beauty of grasscloth wallpaper. It took many months of convincing my husband, but he finally conceded to let me take my dream and make it a reality. In true designer fashion, it wasn’t enough to simply change the walls. I decided that a with the new wallpaper a bit more of a bedroom refresh was in order. By switching out some furniture pieces, like a new bed, and adding new lighting, window coverings, bedding and gorgeous art, I was able to give my bedroom a little update and create a space that is truly reflective of me at this juncture of my design life.

As I mentioned, the grasscloth wallpaper was the jumping off point for the design of the room. After looking at numerous wallpaper samples, I settled on Haruki Sisal in Silver from Schumacher. The photos do not do the beauty of this wall covering justice. The subtle texture and metallic sheen create an envelope of warmth of elegance.

After selecting the wallpaper, I needed to find the perfect bed.  As soon as I saw this bed on, I knew it was the perfect one. Hayneedle has an incredible selection of beds and other furniture and accessories. Truthfully, you can find pretty much anything you would need for your home on Hayneedle. I placed my order and was informed when it shipped. The bed arrived via a freight company who delivered it right to my bedroom. Hayneedle’s customer service was great about communicating the status of my order, every step of the way. The bed is a beautiful centerpiece for my room. The dark gray upholstery of the headboard surrounded by a gray washed wood frame is exactly what I was looking for in my new bed.

White bedding is always a winner. I selected a Belgian Linen duvet cover and shams from Malouf and paired them with a white coverlet and griege herringbone bed blanket.

A new rug was also in order. I chose a rug with a neutral ivory background washed gray/green pattern. The fiber content of this rug gives it that washed vintage look, but also has a great sheen, which gives it a luxe feeling. It’s so pretty in person!

New custom pillows made by my fabricator, with gorgeous new fabrics from Robert Allen, finish off the white bedding. This moss green color might be my new favorite. PS – Moss is the new Sage. 🙂

These nightstands still have my heart, so I decided to keep them. I replaced the mercury glass lamps with these fabulous new lamps from Gabby Home. Gabby Home is literally my “go to” for furniture and home decor, when designing a room. I have used so many of their products in my projects and have my own home. Their pieces are exceptionally crafted and have style and personality for days. The details in this uniquely designed table lamp, with it’s gold finish, lucite base and hanging shade, is a signature of Gabby’s style.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know, in my eyes, no room is complete without the perfect window coverings. While I loved the drapes, previously hung in my bedroom, I wanted a cleaner look this time around. I also didn’t want to cover up any of the grass cloth wallpaper. I knew roman shades would be the right option. Choosing the right style and fabric for window coverings can be a daunting task. Couple that with the fact that most “off the shelf” styles don’t fit many window sizes and it’s enough to make you want to forget about the windows all together. That’s where Barn & Willow comes in. Barn & Willow was created to allow everyone, not just designers, get the perfect custom window coverings, roman shades and/or drapery panels, for their home, at an affordable price!! The genius behind Barn & Willow is how easy, convenient and risk free they make the whole process. If you visit their website, you will see that you can order FREE swatches of all the fabrics they offer! When you are investing in dressing your windows you don’t want to rely on your computer monitor to find the right color of fabric. On top of that, Barn & Willow has a Try Before You Buy Program, where they will send you a Roman Shade or Drapery Panel to try in your home before you buy. Seriously?!?! Who does that? So awesome!
I chose a few different fabric swatches to have delivered to my home. Once I received them, I decided the Off White Belgian Flax fabric was the right choice. Barn & Willow has numerous premium quality fabrics available. All the samples I received were divine! I chose a flat fold style roman shade, with a black out lining. Ordering online was a breeze and in 10 days, I had gorgeous, custom Roman Shades for my Bedroom, at 1/3 of the cost of traditional custom shades. The quality of my shades is superb and I am thrilled with how they look in my bedroom!
