Traditional Quality and Historically Accurate Shutters
An American tradition of beauty and utility
Shutters have been a part of the American landscape since Colonial times. Back when window glass was rare and expensive, you needed something to shut the home against the elements. House Shutters would keep out inclement weather from showers to hurricanes. They helped seal a home against insects and other wild animals. They would allow for control of light and air flow, all while beautifying a dwelling.
Adding value and curb appeal to your home
, real wooden shutters are now most often used for their look. While you may never want to shut them, they’ll still complete the aesthetic of your home. Without shutters, windows just don’t look complete.

For the best shutters, start with the best material
To build shutters the stand the test of time, you need to choose reliable materials. For us, that’s Western Red Cedar. It’s a perfect wood for outdoor usage – a high level of tannin gives it rot resistance The cool Canadian environment it’s grown in gives it tight growth rings for tight grain, and it’s naturally a surprisingly light wood for how strong it is.
Old world craftsmanship for shutters that last
Quality wood deserves careful construction. We don’t use cheap finger glued finger joints, screws or nails. The blind mortise and tennon construction makes for sturdy joinery, with solid through teak peaks to lock it together.
A huge variety of options and styles mean they’re not just shutters, they’re your shutters
In addition to the shutters themselves, we offer shutter mounting hardware that will work on your home. Beyond the basic hinges, pintels and holdbacks in a variety of looks, we offer ring pulls, slide bolts, sill hooks and other companion pieces. If you’re looking for something you don’t see, call us and we’ll help you find it!
